Meeting the financial and student demographic challenges at one of Connecticut’s leading community colleges.

Norwalk Community College (NCC), one of the largest community colleges in Connecticut, faced declining funding support at the state level along with demographic shifts in the student population. To help meet these challenges, it was critical for NCC to raise its profile in Fairfield County. RCL Communications undertook a multi-faceted PR effort to promote the college’s many benefits and points of excellence to parents and prospective students to help meet student enrollment challenges. The program encompassed profiling student achievements, showcasing faculty news, publicizing newsworthy campus initiatives, covering student competitions and cultural productions, and supporting celebratory events. Daily responsibilities included proactive media relations, writing opinion pieces for local media, developing blog posts, managing internal communications, freshening the website with new content, and social media support.

HoSPITAL FOR SPECIAL SURGERY

A multi-tiered program of media relations, affinity marketing and content communications to promote the NYC hospital's expansion into Connecticut.

As the country's number one hospital for orthopedics, Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) wanted to increase visibility in Connecticut following the opening of its Outpatient Center and Sports Rehab facilities in Stamford and its growing presence in Fairfield County. RCL Communications developed a multi-tiered program to promote the hospital's expansion through media introductions with HSS surgeons; interviews with local radio, broadcast and print media; event sponsorships with youth sports organizations; affinity marketing programs with museums and other cultural institutions; co-branded marketing programs with referral sources such as realtors; and content sponsorship campaigns with popular town blogs to showcase the range of HSS's musculoskeletal expertise.


RALLY

Capturing national media exposure for a Yale University-based start-up that is reinventing the event travel experience.

Rally is an innovative start-up developed at the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute that provides crowd-powered bus travel to enhance the fan experience at major sports and lifestyle events. The company enlisted RCL Communications to gain critical national media exposure. Feature coverage included a live interview for Rally's CEO on CNBC's Closing Bell and segments on CBS Newsradio 880 and WSJ Lunch Break. Speaker appearances at transportation and travel conferences showcased Rally's CEO and the company, which some refer to as “Uber for bus travel".                                                              


TRAC INTERMODAL

Elevating the stature of an intermodal equipment leader by affiliating the company with timely news on improved trade flow.

As the leading intermodal equipment provider and chassis fleet manager in North America, TRAC Intermodal wanted to broaden awareness of its role in providing premium quality equipment and customer-focused services to speed the flow of commerce. RCL Communications worked with TRAC’s marketing team to identify opportunities for the company to weigh in on timely, relevant news. TRAC CEO Keith Lovetro was included in a CNBC “Power Lunch” feature on how the company is helping address port congestion.  TRAC quotes on this issue and an ongoing series of announcements ran in The Wall Street Journal, PBS “Nightly Business Report,” Journal of Commerce, Long Beach Press-Telegram and a wide array of trade publications. To reinforce this visibility, RCL Communications secured speaking roles for the CEO at industry conferences around the country.


stamfordnext

Build awareness for a non-profit collaborative to create a center of excellence in data science and analytics among the startup community in Stamford, CT

StamfordNext, part of the Stamford Data Science Initiative, is a non-profit collaboration between UConn Stamford, StamfordNext and CTNext. The group funds the startup ecosystem in Stamford, CT, focused on developing a center of excellence in data science and analytics. RCL Communications teamed with R Leung Communications to build awareness of StamfordNext and promote its ability to foster innovation, growth and investment opportunities in southwestern Connecticut. UConn Stamford created a technology incubation program to help launch and mentor companies that used data science in their operations. The team generated impressive media coverage in local media including The Fairfield County Business Journal. Further support featured guest columns, bylined articles, speaking opportunities, social media support, and appearances on startup-oriented podcasts. The team promoted a series of fireside chats with local business leaders and Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons. The number of startups increased from five to 23 and the campaign helped boost awareness among the business community as well as key decision-makers in the startup and investment sectors across the state.

MLB Advanced media

An expansive visibility campaign to assert MLBAM's leadership in delivering world-class digital experiences and streaming technology for sports and entertainment partners.

MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM), the Internet division of Major League Baseball, engaged RCL Communications to energize visibility for its world-class digital experience and streaming capabilities. RCL Communications teamed up with MLBAM's VP Communications to generate high-level media coverage, secure keynote speaker slots, create fan-based events and support MLBAM’s At Bat app and All-Star Game voting. Notable feature segments aired on Charlie Rose, MSNBC's Morning Joe, CNBC, Bloomberg and CBS This Morning, with extensive print coverage in Forbes, Fast Company, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Fortune and Marketwatch. Keynote speeches were secured with Advertising Age, Fortune, Advertising Week, Internet Week and The Paley Center.

Develop executive-level content to improve communications across the C-suite and amplify the firm's position as a global leader in B2B research and advisory services.

As the world's leading B2B research and advisory firm, SiriusDecisions provides sales, marketing and product leaders with the information they need to make better decisions, improve performance and accelerate growth. SiriusDecisions turned to RCL Communications to develop content to help educate customers about its offerings, share key trends and enable CMOs to improve interactions with their board of directors and CFO. RCL Communications crafted a series of blog posts on planning assumptions for 2017 aimed at marketing, product management and sales operations executives. The scope of work also included developing two eBooks, available for download on the SiriusDecisions website. RCL Communications also developed key messaging and positioning statements across the client's service lines for its new website, business development and communications.

An acknowledged leader in shopper marketing, The Mars Agency enlisted RCL Communications to promote a series of senior-level hires the Detroit-based agency was making across their strategic operations, creative, shopper and E-Commerce groups.  RCL Communications secured media coverage for the announcements with Adweek, Chief Marketer, MediaPost, Crain's Detroit, Yahoo!, Marketwatch and the Detroit Free-Press. The program continues to deliver strategic visibility and marketplace momentum for The Mars Agency.
